Our First Oz Adventure

After many years of motorhoming around Europe visiting such places as Spain, France, Croatia, Czech Republic, Montenegro, Hungary and Slovenia we have decided on a 2 month trip to Australia (obviously using a campervan!). Originally our idea was to ship one of our own campervans to Australia and leave it there for a few years but unfortunately we have been beaten by time and so for this trip we have decided to hire a Toyota Hiace hi-top. Although it wouldn’t be our ideal choice in the UK because of height barriers etc. this is a good vehicle for the West coast of Australia.

Our adventure starts with a flight to Singapore where we’ll stay for a few days of general sightseeing. We then fly on to Perth to spend a few days with old friends who live there before we pick up our campervan.

Our very loose plans are to head north towards Darwin (2525 miles) on the Brand and North West Coastal Highways clutching a copy of the Lonely Planet Guide. Places we hope to visit are Dongara and Port Denison, Kalbarri National Park, Monkey Mia, Shark Bay, The Pinnacles and Broome. The rest we’ll make up along the way. It’s how we like to do things and makes life more interesting.

We intend to let you know what we are getting up to at regular intervals.
