Coonabarabran to Condobolin

We start the day with a flat battery. That is 2 days running. Not surprising as Geoffrey has stood for over a year and the battery is several years old. We stop at a small out of town garage advertising battery replacement. Sometimes it is hard to put our finger on what it is we like about Australia but this garage for us just sums up outback Oz. Family run - mum and dad out front and 2 brothers doing the work. All friendly and helpful and the garage stocked with every conceivable spare part. Stuff everywhere. We were introduced to the family dogs. One with a leg missing and one so ugly the owner said the dog actually had a complex about it!

The conversation went on to classic cars and we were shown their own collection in another shed plus rusting utes laying around waiting for conversion. An hour and a half later we left with the correct battery fitted, the alternater checked and most of all a stack of great memories.

We skip around Dubbo and carry on down the pretty boring Newell Highway to Parkes renowned for its a Elvis Festival held anually to celebrate the king of rock and rolls birthday.

We head out to Condobolin to camp for the night. A great free camp but the temperature at 38 degrees is hot. Toooo hot!
