The End of Our Oz Adventure

Driving east to west across Australia has made a great last adventure, the highlight this year being Nannup Music Festival. It is great to be doing something local and not just the everyday tourist stuff.

And so after 10 years we arrive back in Perth. It was quite emotional thinking back to that first year when we hired a camper and went up the west coast. We really enjoyed our holiday but somehow we weren't really sure about Australia. The wide open spaces of nothing, the endless roads, flies, mosquitos, houses with tin roofs. However, we obviously liked it enough to return the following year having bought our own campervan Geoffrey over the internet and set off across Australia. From then on with each turn of the wheel and every passing year that we returned we grew to love this place more and more. In particular the remote outback and its great friendly people with that unique Aussie sense of humour.

On this years trip we had been endlessly discussing  whether to carry on coming back to Australia or whether to finish and start going to other places. We were in danger of just driving round in circles. Our mind was made up in an odd way. As we got off the hop on/hop off bus that goes round Fremantle there right in front of us was a shipping company. We went in and half an hour later Geoffrey was booked to come back to Felixstowe in England. Our Oz Adventure was over!
